Paderewski Monument in Los Angeles
![]() Polish-American community in Southern California plans to honor Ignacy Jan Paderewski's special links to the State of California by erecting a Paderewski Monument in Los Angeles. In the fall of 2007 a bronze statue of Paderewski will be placed at a specially designed area adjacent to the Music Building on the campus of the University of Southern California, which bestowed upon Paderewski a Honorary Doctorate of Laws in 1923. The official dedication of the Paderewski Monument on October 4, 2007, will coincide with the Sixth Annual Paderewski Lecture-Recital featuring a distinguished Polish composer, Krzysztof Meyer. The Paderewski Lecture-Recitals are designed to present outstanding Polish musicians to audiences in Southern California. Organized by the Polish Music Center at the University Of Southern California Thornton School of Music since 2002, the Paderewski Lecture-Recitals have introduced the achievements of such noted masters as Zygmunt Krauze, Joanna Bruzdowicz, Stanislaw Skrowaczewski, Marta Ptaszynska and Zygmunt Stojowski.
